A mixed case of Meritage-style blends from J. McClelland Cellars and pureCru with Winemakers Mitch Cosentino and Paul Scotto.
This lot exhibits the broad talents of winemaker Mitch Cosentino and his four decades of crafting wines from the Napa Valley.
50 Harvests Red Meritage is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc. 50 Harvests Meritage Blanc is the traditional blend of Pessac-Leognan with 52% Semillon and 48% Sauvignon Blanc.
Mitch Cosentino released the first designated Meritage blend (1986 The Poet) on February 22, 1989 and has been a leader in this category since its inception.
Mitch Cosentino's winemaking history spans four decades and is highlighted by more than 2000 awards and accolades in the wine press and competitions around the globe. The Scotto family's vinous history was launched in 1883 when Salvatore Dominic Scotto began making wine on Italy's island of Ischia. J. McClelland Cellars was conceived as the Scotto family's commitment to the Napa Valley while honoring their friend and wine industry icon John McClelland for his six decades dedicated to wine. Mitch is the conduit for both brands and has fashioned his pureCru wines since founding the brand and also works as a consultant for J. McClelland Cellars alongside winemaker Paul Scotto. 2015 M. Coz is an intensely focused Bordeaux-styled Meritage with its heritage going back to the inaugural 1988 vintage. 2015 Pure Coz is also a Meritage blend containing the "Secret Clone" – a rare Cabernet clone that migrated from Italy giving it a Tuscan twist. 2015 50 Harvests Meritage is a Cabernet focused blend with Merlot and Cabernet Franc and represents a tribute to the Scotto's 50th Anniversary of winegrowing in California. The 2017 50 Harvests Blanc harkens to Graves and Pessac-Léognan as a blend of 52% Semillon and 48% Sauvignon Blanc.
