Naoko Dalla Valle invites you to experience a once-in-a-lifetime journey to share the exquisite cuisine, art and culture of her native land. Touch down in Tokyo for three nights in the deluxe suite of the five-star Peninsula Hotel and a full program of epicurean adventures and contemporary culture highlights. Possibilities include an exclusive tour of Tsukiji Market and a visit to the sumo wrestling stable of the former champion Takanohana, as well as dinners at the highly-coveted Michelin three-starred restaurant and Sushi Jiro.
Day four will take you via Shinkansen bullet train to Kyoto, the heart of traditional Japan, for a three-day stay in your own private two-story “machiya” townhouse in the Gion geisha district. All the best that Kyoto has to offer awaits you: Zen dry landscape gardens, an introduction to the Way of Tea with a Buddhist priest, exquisite Shinto shrines, private visit to a sake brewery, a contemporary ceramics gallery, and the workshops and homes of Kyoto’s most well-respected artisans in the Nishijin weaving and dyeing district. Also planned is a walk through Nishiki Market –the kitchen of Kyoto, a cooking class and lunch at one of Kyoto’s most respected ryori-ryokan inns, an excursion to the I.M. Pei designed Miho Museum, and a peek at the workshop of the indigo dyer to the Imperial family.
Equally imperial is the 6L bottle of Maya included in this lot. Maya, a proprietary blend, showcases the Cabernet Franc grown in the estate vineyard with which it shares its name.
Naoko Dalla Valle will accompany you in Tokyo and part of your Kyoto stay. In Kyoto, you will be escorted by a professional tour guide. This tour is to be scheduled on mutually agreed upon dates between November 1, 2013 and May 25, 2014. Airfare not included.
