From A Small Mountain Vineyard
5 bottles of Napa Valley wine, as noted
Mountain terroir is everything as you'll see with this five-year magnum vertical of Lagier Meredith Syrah from the small Mount Veeder estate owned and operated by Steve Lagier and Carole Meredith. They have no employees, no consultants, no partners and no investors. They live on the property and do the vineyard work and winemaking themselves.
The production from this estate is only a few hundred cases a year. The lot includes one magnum each from 2006 through 2010. The label on each bottle bears a different photograph of the beautiful mountain setting.
The wine's flavor is shaped by the physical characteristics of the mountain site-the shallow soil, the high elevation, the eastern exposure and the cool sea breeze. The berries are always very small, resulting in wine of deep color and concentrated flavor. The cool-climate site produces a distinctive, age-worthy and remarkably complex wine with a consistently recognizable flavor from vintage to vintage.
